Holmes Mackillop sponsored community music group concert in Ayr plays to full house

Holmes Mackillop was delighted to sponsor community music group Ayr Camerata’s concert at Ayr Baptist Church last week which played to a full house.

The law firm’s Director and Head of Corporate Ralph Riddiough, who is a trombonist with Ayr Camerata, said: “We are proud to support this fantastic community music group for what transpired to be a wonderful evening of classical music.

“The highlights for me were the two pieces in which I did not have to play: Faure’s Pavane, in which Pat Spence, the orchestra’s chairperson and its principal flautist, really shone, and Gregson’s Trombone Concerto performed by guest soloist Joshua Parkhill, a professional trombonist from Ayr, who brought this modern, rhythmic piece to life with absolute mastery and I could tell the orchestra really enjoyed accompanying him as well.”

Mendelssohn’s Ruy Blas Overture and Dvorak’s 7th symphony completed the programme.

Thanking Holmes Mackillop for the sponsorship, Pat Spence, added: “I believe I can safely speak for the whole committee in saying we are looking forward to a mutually beneficial association. Your donation is most generous, and we are full of ideas of how to use the money to benefit the activities of the orchestra.”
